Large-scale Visualization

The Allosphere, a 33-foot diameter sphere housed in a three-story space, allows scientists and artists to immerse themselves in data and experience information visually and aurally. Led by JoAnn Kuchera-Morin, Director of the AlloSphere Research Facility and professor of Media Arts and Technology and of music, the facility is housed in the California NanoSystems Institute and funded by the National Science Foundation. Several groups use the space for research on such diverse fields as nanotechnology, brain imaging, the arts, and green technology.
